Reviews about Austin Area Computers
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆June 21, 2020, by Murk V.I am a business owner and have dealt with Austin Area Computers so called "services" and for lack of better words "THEY REALLY, REALLY SUCK"! The are exceptionally unprofessional and rude.....from their receptionist answering the phone to the techs down to the owner. Needed a simple, elementary task accomplished using them and they would not do it. The eventually managed to accomplish the task 3 weeks later. PLEASE, PLEASE.....save yourself some grief and money. "DO NOT" use these people. Their skill, attitude, professionalism, tact, and work ethic is beyond ridiculously bad.
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆July 21, 2019, by A Google User(A little background, I'm a computer engineer, but needed some work done on my laptop. Was recommended this place by a neighbor's relative and it was close to my house. I typically don't write reviews, but this is a necessary one.) My experience was not good. They were friendly enough, but basically they broke my laptop, and didn't do the right thing and fix it and led me to believe it was unfixable. Details: I needed a new laptop keyboard about a year ago for my Dell. They replaced it quickly and I was happy. They seemed nice and were quick. About 6 months later, the top of the laptop started to pop off around the back hinge. I took it in to the same place, but a different guy was there. Without telling him I'd been there before (he didn't know my name), he opens it up and says "Oh, someone was in here before and they didn't replace some screws so that's why it's coming apart and now it's broken (beyond reasonable repair)." Then I said, "well you guys replaced my keyboard a few months ago." So then he backtracks and says "well you probably dropped it." (Which I hadn't). Then he proceeds to tell me that it would be cheaper to buy a new laptop (this was a ~$700 laptop) then to fix it. I believed him and left. Months went by and we just didn't move the laptop much, but then I took the same laptop this weekend to Discount Electronics. I'm about to pick it up - fixed for $129 with tax. So now not am I only steamed that they broke it, but that they lied to me about fixing it. I suppose I could give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a outright lie and that he simply was ignorant on how to fix it (which you should also know about if so....), but I think potential customers should be well aware of the inadequacy of this shop. Note that I am told the original technician who replaced the keyboard has since left. The fact the follow up technician MUST have realized that it was their fault my laptop was broken and didn't offer to fix it for free and then told me it would be too expensive to fix was simply unethical. But I will recommend Discount Electronics!
